Michael Silbert is a candidate for Springfield Township Committee committed to bringing practical leadership, fresh ideas, and common sense decision making to our community.

Michael grew up in nearby Warren Township in Somerset County, but Springfield has been part of his life for as long as he can remember. The Silbert family has proudly called Springfield home since 1971, when his grandparents first moved to the Township. Over the years, Michael spent countless weekends, holidays, and family gatherings here, developing a deep appreciation for Springfield's neighborhoods, businesses, and strong sense of community.

Today, Michael is proud to continue his family's long standing connection to Springfield by building his own future here and working to ensure the Township remains a safe, vibrant, and financially strong place to live, work, and raise a family.

Michael attended The Pingry School before earning degrees in Business and Political Science from Franklin and Marshall College, where he played varsity football and served as President of his fraternity. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, concentrating his studies in real estate law.

Professionally, Michael is an attorney whose practice focuses almost exclusively on municipal law, land use, redevelopment, and local government. He has represented municipalities, planning boards, zoning boards, developers, businesses, and property owners, giving him experience on both the public and private sides of local government. That perspective taught him that the best decisions are made by understanding competing interests, carefully evaluating legal and financial consequences, and bringing people together to reach practical solutions that benefit the community as a whole.

Michael believes local government works best when elected officials are accessible, responsive, and willing to listen. He approaches every issue with a pragmatic mindset, focusing on facts, collaboration, and solutions rather than politics. He believes government should operate efficiently, spend taxpayer dollars responsibly, and never lose sight of the fact that every decision ultimately affects Springfield families.

Michael is running to bring a new perspective to Township government, advocate for every resident, and work collaboratively with his colleagues to preserve what makes Springfield special while preparing the Township for the future.
